Chapter Fifteen

Matt shook hands with Tyler, but his brother pulled him into a hug. “Take care little brother. If you need help, call. The Cap and Hayden will clear the way for Gabe and I to back you up.”

Matt would like nothing more than to say he could handle it. But he wasn’t the cloak and dagger part of the family, he was an accountant for god’s sake. He’d probably drop the damn Glock they insisted he take with him if he got into a situation where he actually needed it. And the red tape to take it to Ireland, how in the hell did criminals smuggle the things onto planes?

“Don’t worry, I’m pretty sure I will call. I’m not stupid.”

“I didn’t mean to imply you were, just that you’re...”

“I know, an accountant.”

Tyler grinned. “Well, yeah.”

“Tyler Beckett, be nice.” Keira had Lucy on her hip. “He was impressive on the gun range, you said so yourself.”

“Not in front of him. Don’t you know?” Tyler tilted his head at her. “You don’t tell your brothers how good they are, they might get a big head.”

“I will never understand men.” Keira kissed her daughter on the forehead and turned to Matt. “You take care of my new sister. I like her.”

He let his gaze rest on Bryn where she stood. Love tightened his chest. He couldn’t let anything happen to her. What would he do without her? He’d just found her. He swallowed and looked at his brother again.

“I promise, at the first sign I can’t handle the situation, I will call you or Rae. I am not a hero.”

Keira laid a hand on his forearm. “You are to her. You both stay safe, okay?”

Two hours later they were standing in security at JFK airport. He knew it would be another hour to clear security because of the concealed weapons they carried, even though they both had permits to carry. Bryn seemed to be holding up better than he was, he could tell she was so excited to see her family she was near to bursting. He was anxious for other reasons. The closer they got to Ireland, the more things he could think of to go wrong. Like the fact whoever had hacked into WBA knew exactly what they planned. However, they’d been extra careful to keep all plans on private home computers and emails. He couldn’t keep the thoughts at bay.

What would happen if against all odds, they ran into Phillips face to face? How to react? Not that they’d ever met the man personally, they’d been briefed and shown enough pictures of him that unless he was in disguise they’d know him anywhere.

Glancing at Bryn as she settled herself into her seat in first class, he had lucked out and had enough points to take them on their honeymoon in style, he knew he wouldn’t bring up any of his doubts until after their reunion with her parents.

They both needed to be cautious and know what each other was thinking, but that could all wait.
